Marcus, a 39-year-old patient living in Smithville (Clay County), recently accessed dental care through a partnership between NHCA and Swope Health. Marcus had been uninsured for the past 20 years, unable to afford dental care on his own. During this period, Marcus had minimal dental visits, only seeking treatment once to have a broken tooth extracted. He struggled with abscessed teeth and other dental issues due to financial constraints.
Through the program, Marcus underwent a comprehensive dental exam to assess his needs. It was determined that he required treatment for 9 cavities. His Care Coordinator collaborated with Swope Health to develop a treatment plan and coordinate coverage for all 9 fillings through the program. Marcus also received a full cleaning as part of his treatment plan.
Marcus expressed deep gratitude for the funding provided by NHCA and the exceptional care he received at Swope Health. He is enthusiastic about improving his oral health and plans to maintain regular dental visits, a goal he feels would not have been achievable without this program.
